This time last year we were in limbo, waiting to close on our first home together. Even though we didn’t officially have the house yet, that didn’t stop me from using Black Friday deals to my advantage.
We put together a list of what we would need, basically starting from scratch with our house. I lived on my own in college, but gave most of that stuff to my sister when she moved out for PT school. Since we needed most of the basics, we focused on that and didn’t worry too much about décor [which would come later].
Here’s the Black Friday deals we bought for the house last year!
Which are still on sale this year!
Pitcher | Pressure Cooker | Toaster Oven | Wine Glasses | Cutlery Set | Kitchen Gadgets
Cookware Set | Hand Mixer | Kitchen Towels | Dinnerware Set* | Drinking Glasses* | Silverware Set
[*These are not the exact sets we bought, but similar. We bought a 74-piece set for the dinnerware instead of the 18-piece, but Corelle no longer sells it. The brand we bought for the glasses was Cellar Basics, but Macy’s no longer sells them.]
Note: the wine glasses and drinking glasses are doorbusters at Macy’s. If you buy them in-store, they’re $10 and you receive a $10 mail-in rebate. So you only pay the sales tax for them!
Shower Curtain | Sheet Set | Pillows
Hand Towels | Bath Towels | Wash Towels | Bath Rug
We ended up picking up most of our home basics from Macy’s, JC Penney, and Kohl’s. They have good sales on home items for Black Friday and we ended up saving so much by buying ahead of time, instead of waiting until we moved in!
Bonus, if you’re not into the crowds and shopping after Thanksgiving, these deals are all available online. I had the majority of our finds shipped to my house, just because it’s easier than carrying it all! We do actually go out Black Friday shopping. I never used to, but it’s a tradition for Jason and his family, so now I join.
